The Hallows Church exists to magnify and to multiply the gospel through Seattle to the ends of the earth. To that end, we live in a simple rhythm of gathering worshipers and scattering servants. By God’s grace, in a little over two years, we have established a growing presence in the urban sprawl of North Seattle. We are celebrating the rise of a worshiping, missional community committed to exploring the depths of God’s gospel and its redemptive claim on our lives as we seek to live out our faith in the context of our friendships.

In January of 2014, we were contacted by a remnant of disciples from a leaderless church located in West Seattle. After much prayer on their part, they reached out to us in an effort to start a dialogue to determine whether or not we would be interested in providing them with leadership and direction as they sought to make much of Jesus in their community. At that point, we entered into a prayerful discussion with them about our spiritual DNA, our vision/mission/values, as well as other aspects of the Christian life. As time progressed, our hearts intertwined and they voiced a desire to see an expression of The Hallows Church established in West Seattle.

Soon after, our leadership presented this opportunity to our covenant members. We asked them to take two weeks to pray and fast in an effort to discern God’s guidance and provision. We then came together for an evening of prayer and provided an open forum for members to ask questions as well as to voice affirmations and/or concerns. The evening was marked by a rich ethos of grace. In the end, we sensed the Lord leading us forward viewing this as a providentially arranged opportunity to magnify and to multiply the gospel through Seattle to the ends of the earth.

Moving forward, our plan is simple and consists of four immediate action steps. One, we will host a series of prayer gatherings on Sunday mornings at 3420 SW Cloverdale St.  The prayer gatherings will begin at 10:30 am and are open to anyone interested in exploring God’s will and participating in this particular effort to form a worshiping, missional community in West Seattle. When we sense the time is right, those prayer gatherings will evolve into a fully orbed worship gathering. Two, the aforementioned remnant of disciples will form a Missional Community that follows our weekly rhythm of fellowship, study, service, and study.  For more details concerning this MC, please email andrew@hallowschurch.org. Three, we will host an informational lunch on a date to be determined in order to cast vision and to answer questions about who we will be as a church. Four, we will identify and affirm a Pastor of Missional Ministry who will lead out on the ground in West Seattle. He will be equipped to infuse our spiritual DNA into our West Seattle expression as well as to implement appropriately nuanced versions of our vision, mission, and goal in that particular context.

These are exciting days for us. We proceed in faith asking God to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ever ask or imagine as He builds His church all throughout this beautiful city!
